Sophie Bainbridge

Sophie is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) and has over 25 years of experience with the Government of Canada and the United Nations where she has evolved in different financial management roles. She was fortunate to serve on two assignments abroad with the United Nation’s World Food Program in Rome and the Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in New York.
She joined Global Affairs Canada in 2011, as the Director of Accounting Operations Domestic and International. In the last decade, she had the chance to hold the position of Director General, Financial Operations and Systems, as well as Executive Director for the 2018 G7 Summit held in Charlevoix. Sophie is now Director General, Grants and Contributions Management. In these roles, Sophie has served on many Governance committees.
As an experienced senior executive, Sophie brings strong analytical and leadership skills. She believes in reaching goals by mobilizing people, engagement and empowerment.
