Squadron Leader (retired) Arthur Finlayson Haggart CD, passed peacefully June 23rd 2019 at Queensway Carleton hospital, aged 90 years, 10 months & 23 days. Beloved husband of Marion (nee Preston) for 68 years. Father of Wayne (Valerie Byrne) and Brian. Grandfather of Erin (Will Spencer), Melissa (Tim Syer), Patrick (Hannah Sheridan), and Dylan (Jamie Shore). Great Grandfather of Samuel Haggart and Tristan Spencer.
He was a proud member of the RCAF for 29 years as a firefighter, rising from the rank of LAC to Squadron Leader.
After taking off his uniform he coordinated and managed the new Lambton College Industrial Fire School for more than 15 years.
He was a dedicated member of the Royal Canadian Legion and was a Past President of the Sarnia Branch 62 and before that RCAF Association 403 Wing. He received the Meritorious Service Medal from the Legion and was also named an Ontario Volunteer Service Award winner in 2000 for his work for 12 years with the Sarnia Highland Games.
He was a passionate curler and golfer - interests which he has successfully passed on to the next two generations of his family.
He had a great ride and now his watch has ended; we will remember him.
