It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Iris Aubut (Eadie), February 19th 2024 at the Montfort Hospital in Ottawa at the age of 99.

She was the beloved widow of Germain (Gerry) Aubut (Jan. 16th, 2022). Step-mother to Jacques (Louise Seguin) and Céline (Dean Buzza). Grand-mother to Shanna and Danika Buzza as well as Catherine and Mélanie Aubut. Survived by cousins Rosalind Delaney (Emu Plains, Australia) and Douglas Abraham (Sylvia) from Southampton, England. She is also survived by her dear friends Jinny, Karen and Claude.

Growing up as an only child, she later married into a large family with numerous nieces and nephews who welcomed her with open arms and stood by her side until the very end. Iris worked as a court reporter but she was truly an artist and a writer at heart. She was very happy and honoured to be the recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2012.

The family wishes to thank all the wonderful staff at both the Rockcliffe Retirement Home and the Montfort Hospital. We have truly appreciated the great care and compassion they have shown Iris and our family. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Hearing Services or the Canadian Arthritis Society would be appreciated.

Iris was a kind, caring person who always wanted to listen to news from England.
Sylvia and myself thought she was a truly wonderful lady, who was very kind to us, and is a very sad loss.
A big thank you to her family for all the care they gave her during her life.
Now united with Gerry, may they both have eternal peace.

Iris was a woman of grace and dignity .
She was loved and she loved.
Iris walked the walk with her indomitable British spirit.
Unique , brave and strong.
Always full of hope .
She met the love of her life later in life .
And together they made a life of love and caring for others.
They walked with kindness .
Step by step and soulmates , Iris and Germain are together again .
They have found peace .

My heartfelt condolences to the family of Iris. My late husband Wolfgang and I have known her and Germaine as neighbours for quite some years and had many wonderful get-together with them. Iris was a very kind and warm lady. When they moved into the retirement home at Rockcliffe, I have lost touch with them, and later on, after Germaine passed away, I only heard about her now and then from a mutual friend. I am saddened to learn about her passing.
