It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved sister, Louise Dolores Levesque, who left us today, in her 70th year, to join our mom, Mémère, and Pépère. Louise was born in Sudbury, Ontario, and faced many illnesses with immense courage and strength, but her body could no longer endure the suffering. She battled cancer twice, endured the amputation of one leg and half of her other foot due to diabetes, survived flesh-eating disease, suffered a stroke, heart attack, and underwent dialysis every other day for nine years. Despite these challenges, Louise was never a quitter and brought joy to everyone around her.
Louise will be dearly missed by her best friend Marty, who affectionately called her 'Ta.' Marty was her rock and unwavering support, standing by her side through every trial and providing immense strength and comfort. He did so much for her, always ensuring she felt loved and cared for.
She is survived by her sister Lorraine (Jim, predeceased) from Kagawong; sister Denise from Ottawa; brother Guy (Lynn) from Kitchener; sister Nicole (Nimer) from Texas; brother Gerry (Bobbi-Jo) from Ottawa; and sister Jeannette (David). Louise will be deeply missed by her sister Denise, who was her devoted constant companion, loyal friend, and caregiver during her final years. Gerry and Bobbi-Jo were also an immense help to her, always there to provide much-needed support whenever she needed it. Her friends, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews, especially Lucy, who lovingly called her Lala Loulou, will forever cherish her memory.
Louise was a talented chef whose meals brought comfort and joy to all. Her pets de soeurs, Pépère's beans, tire, and anise cookies were favorites. Louise's unpretentious nature and her knack for making us laugh made her all the more endearing. Her generosity and kindness touched everyone she met.
Going to the lake, her favorite place, will never be the same without her. Lou, your body can now rest from all the unimaginable sickness you endured. Go and enjoy an ice cream cone with mom, as you missed those days. We love you and will miss you dearly. You will always be in our hearts.
At Louise's request, there will be no funeral. A celebration of her life will be announced later and held at the lake, her favorite place.
A heartfelt thank you to the Civic dialysis team for their exceptional care and support. Louise always spoke highly of their kindness and dedication.
We also extend our deepest gratitude to the compassionate care team at Bruyère for their unwavering support during Louise's short stay. Their compassion and care provided immense comfort to her and our family during an incredibly tough time.
In memory of Louise, please consider a donation to the Bruyère Health Foundation in Ottawa.
