Passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at the age of 67, surrounded by his family at the Ottawa General Hospital. Predeceased by his parents, Clément Giroux and Berte Lauzon.
Beloved husband of Carolle Bertrand, he is also mourned by his two sons: Éric (Natasha Mitchell) of Ottawa, and Yan (Chandra Scott) of Ottawa, as well as his grandchildren: Théo, Wolfe, Draco, Renegade, José, and Félix.
He also leaves in sorrow his brothers and sisters: Bernard, François, Richard, Michel, Louise (Benoît Fortin), and Berthe Robert, along with many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. He was also predeceased by seven brothers: Gérard, Claude, Guy, Clément Jr., Paul-Aurel, Gilbert, and Louis, and by three sisters: Carmen, Madeleine, and Nicole.
A Celebration of Robert’s Life will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, October 17, at the Sacred Space of Beechwood Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services, 280 Beechwood Avenue in Ottawa. Inurnment and reception will follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Parkinson Canada would be appreciated.
