It is with great sorrow that the family announces the passing of Sharanne Patricia Paquette (née Bellamy) on February 21, 2024. She was taken by cancer after fighting it for over 2 years.

Sharanne was born in London, Ontario in 1959 and is survived by her loving husband Daniel Paquette and her 3 adoring children: Stéphane (Vy Tran), Marc (Kacie Layton) and Renée (Roberto Colaiacovo). She is also survived by her parents George and Ann Bellamy and her brother David (Jennifer) all of Toronto.

Sharanne was an original, kind and compassionate soul who placed family first; she was so proud of her 3 children who each carry her energy and curiosity to this day. Sharanne had a passion for design and art which started with her mother’s influence, continued at university with a degree in urban planning (minor fine arts) and ended with a career in landscape design (after going back to school) where she was entrusted to create extraordinary outdoor living spaces for some of the nicest properties in Ottawa. Sharanne was community oriented and was active in local civic issues; she also served on the City of Ottawa’s Committee of Adjustment. Sharanne’s likeable nature cultivated many friendships along the way. She was a loving and supportive wife.

The family would like to thank Doctor Stephanie Brulé of the Ottawa General Hospital, Doctor Natasha Leighl of Princess Margaret Hospital and the staff at May Court Hospice for their care of Sharanne during her illness.

Family and friends are invited to Beechwood, Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services (280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa), A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, April 5th at 10:30 am in Beechwood’s Sacred Space. Please consider making a donation in memory of Sharanne to Hospice Care Ottawa – May Court Hospice.

Sharanne was a life long friend and I thought we would be old ladies together one day. Although we lived in different cities we maintained a close friendship that grew stronger as the years went by. She was a courageous soul who faced life head on and strove to find meaning in all its twists and turns. I will sorely miss our long chats on the phone and visits when we could manage them. I find myself saying to myself “I’ll have to ask Sharanne about that” and grieving anew over the loss of such a good friend. Rest easy now Sharanne.
Our sincere condolences to Dan and the whole family

Anyone who met Sharanne immediately liked her. She had a way of making everyone feel at ease and welcomed. She was a gentle spirit, and always saw the good in everyone. It was an honour knowing a person of such quality and a sad day hearing of her untimely passing. My deepest condolences go out to her entire family.
