Passed away peacefully on Monday, October 14th, 2019 at the age of 64, after a battle with cancer.  Kerry leaves behind her loving husband, Guy Charlebois, and her sons Keith (Kaitlin Grant) and Kale.  Daughter of the late Patrick Hilson (Behan) and Sheila Hilson (McLay), she will be dearly missed by her grandchildren; Kianna, Elise, and Oskar, as well as her siblings; Kandi (Wayne Potter), Kindi (Jimmy Dickinson), and Pat (Kim Tasse).  She was well loved by many nieces and nephews, friends and colleagues.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Saturday, October 26th, 2019 in the Sacred Space of Beechwood National Memorial Centre (280 Beechwood Ave.) from 10am to 12noon, followed by a Celebration of Life and reception.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Ottawa Hospital Foundation or the Bruyère Foundation.

One of the nicest ladies I have ever met! A second mom to me as a young boy and a true role model!

It was my good fortune to have worked with Kerry-Lee for over ten years. She was one of the most knowledgeable, hard working and kindest people that I had the pleasure of working with. Kerry-Lee treated everyone with the same level of respect. She looked for the good in everyone and overlooked any negativity. Her focus was always on helping to promote the success of the organization and her colleagues. Kerry-Lee was my friend and I will miss her. To her family I pass along my sincere condolences. Although you are experiencing the depression of such a loss, I am sure that your memories of this lady will assist you in getting through this time and in the future will bring you some solace.

Everyone who knew Kerry Lee has their own story about she touched their life.

For me, Kerry Lee was a solid and trustworthy friend who became over time, more like family. The things I will try to remember are her adventurous spirit, her positive attitude, her love of family, an unbeatable work ethic, and her effort and ability to make things better, in small or big ways for anyone she knew was experiencing difficulty. That was Kerry Lee, do what you can to help, to make things better, and then do more. She was able to lighten the load for others but never with an expectation of anything in return. Kerry Lee understood what true friendship is, what being a team player and good colleague was all about.

I think KL created a ripple effect through her openness, kindness and non-judgmental attitude. For me the proof is, when I don’t know the answer to something, asking myself, what would Kerry Lee do, how would she handle this? She had a quiet dignity when things were tough, and was able to inject humour when and where it was needed. She could take the high road when necessary and just had an easy demeanour about her that made everyone feel comfortable and included.

We all know what a great mom, sister, wife, grandmother, aunt and great-aunt she was. She was the foundation and a soft landing place for so many people. I hope in even a small way, to follow her example, remember her sage advice, and learn how to lighten up more.

While KL and I won’t be able to add any new adventures or chapters to our book, I’ll keep space in the next ones to remember the ones we did.

We miss you already,
Amanda and Geoff
