It is with deepest sympathies that we announce the passing of Derek William Tilley.

Derek passed away at The Ottawa General Hospital campus on Wednesday June 25th 2025, at the age of 93.

He was the beloved husband of Maureen Joyce Tilley (Sitton), loving father to Sandra Tilley, Stephen Tilley, Peter Tilley and Tracy Baker (Tilley) and is survived by his many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nephews and nieces. He will be very dearly missed.

The service will be held on Wednesday, August 6th at 11am at Beechwood National Memorial Centre located at 280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa, Ontario.

The family wishes to extend their thanks to Chartwell’s New Edinburgh Square for their excellent care during the last year of his life.

Jack Andrews an RCAF veteran for 32 years

Derek was a veteran of the RCAF who served for 34 years of distinguished service. In his retirement he did many things but I remember him being a member of the Knights of the Round Table in the Orleans Legion. A stand-up drinking table brought many of the veterans together at least once per week for an ale. He and Maureen always like coming to the annual Mess dinner in the Spring. A fun time for over 100 veterans and their wives. Birthday cakes at the Round Table was also one of his favourite get together times. Being the oldest of the group he was always chosen to cut the cake. He will be missed by all the members of the Round Table. Have a safe flight Derek.

We met at Uplands in March 1964, stayed as friends all these years. Came to work with me at the Canadian War Museum on Sussex Drive in the early eighties. Talked him into joining the Knights of The Round Table. Both of them became a great part of our lives. Much missed.
