It is with profound sadness that the family of Helen Guth-Del Castillo announces her peaceful passing on October 24, 2025, at the age of 84, in Ottawa, Ontario. Helen was born on September 7, 1941, in Sara, Philippines.
Helen dedicated her working life to nursing and caring for the sick in many hospitals both in Europe and North America. Beyond her work she enjoyed travelling and exploring new places. She also found joy in hosting guests and cooking, and her self-made desserts will be deeply missed.
Helen was a woman of quiet strength and dignity. She had unwavering faith and her willingness and engagement to help others in need has been a guiding star for her professional life as a nurse but also after her retirement by volunteering for different organizations.
She is lovingly remembered by her son Philippe, daughter-in-law, Stephanie and grandsons, Yannick and Fabrice. She is also survived by ex-partner Serge, two of her siblings, Emily and Quirino, as well as many nieces and nephews. She is now reunited with her two beloved sisters, Sonia and Zenaida.
Family and friends are invited to a memorial service on Thursday October 30th at 10 a.m. followed by an inurnment at 11 a.m. at Beechwood Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services (the Beechwood National Memorial Centre), located at 280 Beechwood Avenue in Ottawa.
Helen will be sorely missed by family and friends. Hers was a life well-lived for God and for everyone who had the privilege to know her. She will always be remembered with fondness and with love.
