It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of our mother, Helen Mercier (nee Sirianni) who left us on October 23rd after a beautifully lived life. Full of love, laughter, and resilience, she touched the lives of all who knew her. A wonderful mother and a cherished friend to many, she left behind a legacy of kindness and strength, leaving a lasting impression on countless hearts. Her final moments were spent peacefully surrounded by her devoted family.

She is survived by her children, Donna Smerdon nee Mercier (Barry) and Danny Mercier, (John), and fondly remembered by her much-adored granddaughters Kate and Hannah Smerdon. Helen was predeceased by her husband Richard of 57 years and her son Ricky.

Helen wanted to be remembered for the joy she brought to others in life not the sadness of her passing and to honour her wishes, a private committal service will be held for her immediate family.

Helen’s family wishes to send a special heartfelt thank you to the staff at Symphony Senior Living for their care and compassion and the dedicated palliative care team for helping to make Helen's last days comfortable and peaceful.

Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Kidney Foundation of Canada, Canadian Diabetes Foundation or the Ottawa Humane Society.
