It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of Robert Bellehumeur, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. A man of curiosity and creativity, Robert lived his life with passion and purpose, forever young at heart.
Robert was preceded in death by his father, Jacques Bellehumeur, and his mother, Aline Deschênes.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Mila Bellehumeur, and his children, Christian Bellehumeur and François Bellehumeur, as well as his daughter-in-law Ekaterina Bellehumeur. He was a proud grandfather to Martin and Léo.
Robert is also survived by his siblings Ginette, Danielle, Jacqueline, Jacques, and Maya Bellehumeur and by his sister-in-law Svetlana McCallister. He shared meaningful chapters of his life with his ex-wife, Lise De Champlain.
A lifelong learner, Robert earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, a Master of Business Administration (MBA), and achieved the distinction of Certified Internal Auditor (CIA). His intellectual curiosity was matched only by his drive to build, create, and explore.
Robert’s talents extended far beyond his professional world. He was an early adopter of new technologies, always eager to dive into emerging ideas and embark on new projects. In recent years, he developed multiple sourdough bread recipes, landscaped intricate gardens, and took on renovation projects with the expert craftsmanship and dedication that defined so much of his life.
An exceptional woodworker and avid craftsperson, Robert had a special gift for working with natural materials especially stone shaping them with skill and artistry. His love for nature was deep and ever-present, influencing his hobbies, his surroundings, and his spirit.
In his youth, Robert was a notorious practical joker, known for his wit and playfulness. Though the years passed, that spark never dimmed. He remained vibrant and complex to the very end. He loved classical music and visual arts, appreciated authenticity in people, and lived with a passion that left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.
Robert’s life was rich in love, creativity, and curiosity. His memory will continue to inspire his family and all who had the privilege of sharing in his journey.
May he rest in peace.
Family and friends are invited to Beechwood Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services (280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa) for a Memorial Service on Thursday, November 27th at 1 p.m. followed by a Reception.
