With heavy hearts we remember and celebrate the life of Mrs. Ananthalakshmi Ramachandran, a.k.a, Santha, who passed away on January 1st, 2026, at The Ottawa Hospital, around 11:45 p.m., after a gallant fight that lasted 21 days. Though her time with us has come to an end, the love she gave and the lives she touched will endure far beyond this moment.
Ananthalakshmi was a mother in the truest sense of the word—not only to the children she bore, but to so many others who were fortunate enough to come within her circle of care. Her compassion knew no boundaries. Her selfless love was unmatched and rare, freely given without expectation or condition. She had a gentle soul and an infectious smile, one that could comfort, reassure, and uplift even in the most difficult moments.
She touched countless lives—those of her family, her colleagues, her friends, and very especially her doctor, nurses, para medics, and personal support workers, who stood by her with dedication and kindness during the last four years as she became increasingly frail. To them, she was more than someone in need of care; she was someone who offered warmth, dignity, and gratitude in return.
Beneath her soft and gentle exterior lived an indomitable spirit, inherited from her father and revealed only to those who knew her most closely. Her life was a quiet saga of sacrifice, courage, and selflessness. She faced challenges with grace, endured hardship with strength, and gave of herself endlessly, often without recognition.
Her loss leaves a void that can never truly be filled. Yet, her life remains a profound inspiration. We honor her best by carrying forward her values—her kindness, her compassion, and her unwavering love for others. Though she may no longer walk beside us, she lives on in our hearts, our memories, and in the countless lives she so beautifully shaped.
May her gentle soul attain moksha.
