It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Fay due to complications from Alzheimer’s. She passed peacefully, surrounded by her children and in the loving arms of her husband of 70 years.
Fay was born and raised on a small farm in Cornwall, Ontario, until she was swept away by the love of her life, Ron Burelle. They moved to Ottawa to start a family. Marc (Elena), Sharon, Janice (Jerome), and David (Judy). Under their loving guidance, the family flourished with six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
In 1972, Fay and Ron made the bold decision to start a business (Regional Crane Rentals). Fay enrolled in night school for business and accounting. When the company launched, she stepped into dispatching and bookkeeping, seemingly effortlessly balancing it all while raising four young children.
Despite the busyness of their lives, Fay and Ron always found time for each other. They travelled North America, Europe, returning to Barbados for years, then buying a home in Florida. In what leisure time Fay had, she loved playing tennis, bowling, reading novels, and typically had a puzzle going wherever she was. She was most happy surrounded by her devoted family, typically playing cards until the wee hours of the morning.
Fay’s motto was “anything worth doing, is worth doing well”, which defined all aspects of her life. Fay was beautiful inside and out. She was a doting wife and dedicated mother; the “SUPER” glue that kept us going, together, and the steady hand that kept the chaos at bay. She instilled in the family a strong work ethic, respect, honesty and kindness and above all else to be there for each other.
Since moving to Lord Lansdowne in 2022, Fay and Ron were able to rekindle closeness, make new friends and spend more time with their loved ones.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Beechwood Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services (280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa) in the spring, where family and friends will gather to honour and remember her. Details will be shared in the coming months.

C'est avec une grande tristesse que nous annonçons le décès de Fay, des suites de complications liées à la maladie d'Alzheimer. Elle est décédée paisiblement, entourée de ses enfants et dans les bras aimants de son mari depuis 70 ans.
Fay est née et a grandi dans une petite ferme à Cornwall, en Ontario, jusqu'à ce qu'elle soit emportée par l'amour de sa vie, Ron Burelle. Ils ont déménagé à Ottawa pour fonder une famille. Marc (Elena), Sharon, Janice (Jérôme) et David (Judy). Sous leur guidance aimante, la famille s'est agrandie avec six petits-enfants et neuf arrière-petits-enfants.
En 1972, Fay et Ron ont pris la décision audacieuse de créer une entreprise (Regional Crane Rentals). Fay s'est inscrite à des cours du soir en commerce et en comptabilité. Lorsque l'entreprise a été lancée, elle s'est occupée de la répartition et de la comptabilité, semblant tout concilier sans effort tout en élevant quatre jeunes enfants.
Malgré leur vie bien remplie, Fay et Ron ont toujours trouvé du temps l'un pour l'autre. Ils ont voyagé en Amérique du Nord, en Europe, sont retournés à la Barbade pendant des années, puis ont acheté une maison en Floride. Pendant son temps libre, Fay aimait jouer au tennis, au bowling, lire des romans et, généralement, faire des puzzles où qu'elle se trouve. Elle était comblée lorsqu'elle était entourée de sa famille dévouée, avec laquelle elle jouait généralement aux cartes jusqu'aux petites heures du matin.
La devise de Fay était « tout ce qui vaut la peine d'être fait mérite d'être bien fait », ce qui définissait tous les aspects de sa vie. Fay était belle à l'intérieur comme à l'extérieur. Elle était une épouse aimante et une mère dévouée. La « SUPER » colle qui nous a permis de continuer, ensemble, et la main ferme qui a maintenu le chaos à distance. Elle a inculqué à sa famille une solide éthique de travail, le respect, l'honnêteté et la gentillesse, et surtout, l'importance d'être là les uns pour les autres.
Depuis leur déménagement à Lord Lansdowne en 2022, Fay et Ron ont pu renouer des liens étroits, se faire de nouveaux amis et passer plus de temps avec leurs proches.
Une célébration de sa vie aura lieu au salon funéraire Beechwood, Services funéraires, cimetière et crémation (280, avenue Beechwood, Ottawa) au printemps, où la famille et leur amis se réuniront pour lui rendre hommage et se souvenir d'elle. Les détails seront communiqués dans les prochains mois.
