It is with great sadness that we announce to you that during the early hours on the morning of Monday, November 11, Hang Bor Wong passed away peacefully at the Emergency Department of the General Campus of the Ottawa Hospital at the age of 96. She had been in declining health prior to her admittance to the hospital.
After spending the bulk of her life in Taishan, China, Hang Bor along with her husband and two daughters immigrated to Canada in 1982 from Hong Kong. She was predeceased by her husband, Chang Yin Chen, her parents, Wong Shu-Chin (father) and Lee King-Que (mother); and siblings Wong Moon-Hoi (brother) and Wong Hang-Non (sister). She leaves behind her sons, Philip (Doris) and Yat-Choi (Suyun), and daughters, Margaret (Thompson), Anna (Juan) and Fanny (Sam). She was the cherished grandmother to Gilbert (Kristy), Herbert (Terri), Selena (Kiet) and Juliana (Courtny), Albert, Henry, Gary, Joellyn (Nicholas), Anthony (Ungelli) and Leon (Eileen); and great grandmother to Conner, Lauren, Tyler, Harper, Olivia, Evan, Finley and Shay. Also, she will be greatly missed by nephews, nieces and cousins living in China, Canada and the USA.
The family wishes to thank the emergency department staff at the General Campus of the Ottawa Hospital for the care she received during her brief stay there.
Friends and family may pay their respects at the Beechwood National Memorial Centre on Friday, November 29 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. To my dear grandmother (in-law), I will miss our chats, your gentle touch, and your words of wisdom that you've imparted onto me. Although our time together was limited to a handful of visits, knowing the life you've lived inspires me to walk the path you've taken. May you rest in peace knowing that you have made an endearing impact on my life.
