Peacefully on Wednesday September 3, 2025 in Ottawa. Beloved husband of Norma Garrett.
He will be dearly remembered by many nieces and nephews, cousins, extended family members and a wide circle of friends in Canada and around the world.
Denis was a proud member of the Canadian Armed Forces for over 35 years, serving in many postings in Canada and around the world as well as peacekeeping missions. His professionalism earned the respect of all who served with him. His dedication to the military continued throughout his life.
Denis was an avid golfer who enjoyed making plans, travelling and music.
Friends and family are invited to assemble and pay respects in the Hall of Colours of the Beechwood National Memorial Centre, 280 Beechwood Ave. Ottawa, ON on Saturday September 20th after 11 a.m. Memorial Service will be held in the Sacred Space at 1 p.m. followed by internment at the National Military Cemetery of the Canadian Armed Forces and a reception. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Denis to the Perley Health Foundation or a charity of your choice will be appreciated.

I was in Werl, Germany, when Denis arrived, and left as the 1st battalion was moving to Lahr. Sorry we were not to meet often enough thereafter.

Oh Norma, I was so sorry to hear about Denis. I looked forward to seeing his infectious smile every Christmas. I’m sorry I won't be able to be there on the 20th, but know that I'll be thinking of him, and you. I know the service will be special and you’ll be surrounded by family and friends.
