With gratitude for a life well lived and sadness for our loss, we announce the peaceful passing of Jacques R. Lalonde on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at Bruyère Saint-Vincent Hospital. Jacques was the cherished husband and lifelong companion of Muriel Lalonde (née Charlebois), with whom he shared nearly 67 beautiful years of marriage.
A devoted and loving father, Jacques leaves behind his children Bob (Lynda) and Nancy (Carlos), who will forever carry his kindness, humour, and unwavering love in their hearts. He was a proud and gentle Poppa to Josh, Joey (Jessica), and Talia, and a deeply adored great-grandfather to little Jacob, who brought him endless joy.
Jacques had a long and proud career as a Bell Canada Pioneer and was a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus, embodying service, dedication, and community throughout his life. He leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter and will be fondly remembered for his passion for fishing and hunting. He was truly a great catch!
Jacques’ family asks that he be remembered for the joy he brought to others, not the sadness of his passing.
The family will be present to receive condolences in the Sacred Space at Beechwood Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services, 280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa on Friday, December 5th at 12:00 PM. A catholic ceremony to honour Jacques’ life will take place at 1:00pm, with reception to follow. Interment will follow in the spring in his beloved hometown of Alexandria, where he will be laid to rest among family and familiar roots.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate and devoted staff of The William and Maureen Shenkman Palliative Care Unit at Bruyère Health Saint-Vincent Hospital. Their warmth and care made Jacques’ final months comforting and dignified.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bruyère Health Foundation, palliative care unit, in memory of Jacques Lalonde or the University of Ottawa Heart Institute Foundation.

Aunt Muriel, Bob, and Nancy and Families….I am thinking of you at this time as you say good-bye to a wonderful husband, father, uncle, and friend. Uncle Jacques was a charismatic figure in my childhood, larger than life with his hunting stories, his stag head over the mantle and the bearskin rug. But despite that, he was a gentle giant of a man, a man devoted to him family. I will miss him and think of him fondly. Love and light, Carolyn
My deepest condolences to Murielle Nancy and Bob ...we keep great memories of camel chute camp with my parents xoxo
