Marguerite passed away unexpectedly at her home on Sunday, December 14, 2025 at the age of 71. Beloved wife of Rod MacDonald. Loving mother to Jennifer (Grant Wager), Mathew (Isabelle Allard) and stepmother to Erin. Dear sister to André (Joanne Guénette) and Gerry, and aunt to Joanie (the late Mathieu), Marc-André, Cynthia, Stevan, Erica Soleil, Margaret Carole, Claire Emmanuelle Catherine, Nathaniel John, Natacha Anne, and Robert Bruce.

Predeceased by her parents Joyce (née Laroche) and Gérard Ladouceur as well as her sisters Suzette and Micheline.

A dedicated public servant for 37 years, she brought kindness and connection to every aspect of her personal and professional life. Known for her banana muffin deliveries to her many friends, she spent her retirement bringing love and selflessness to her community. Her commitment to serving others extended into her church community, where she volunteered with devotion and a loving heart. Fierce in her love and steadfast in her care, Marguerite found joy in caring for others whenever a friend, family member, or “second son” was in need. She loved her time spent in her son’s pool and at the local RCMP campground. Her legacy of laughter and warmth lives on in the countless lives she enriched.

Family and friends are invited to assemble and celebrate Marguerite’s Life on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at Beechwood Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services, 280 Beechwood Ave, Vanier, ON, Ottawa after 9:00am. Memorial Service will be held at 10:00am. followed by a reception from 11:00am to 1:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, please send In Memoriam donations to Look Good Feel Better or Boxer Rescue Ontario

Marguerite was such an anchor for the family. And yes, I did take home quite a few of those lovely little banana muffins. She will be sorely missed by all.

I had the pleasure of knowing Marguerite for well over 25 years through my friendship with her husband as a result of our mutual interests in Canadian social history. She was always cheerful despite always being busy with household and family matters and the training of her various rescued pets. My younger son (now 19) always got on well with her and he benefitted greatly from her calm, friendly and non-judgemental disposition.
I send my sincerest condolences to her husband and to all of her children and extended family. She will be sorely missed.

“ She had a smile, a pleasant way, a helping hand to all she knew.
She was so kind, so generous and true.
On earth she nobly did her best.
Grant her, Jesus, heavenly rest. “

“To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die.” (Thomas Campbell, 1825).
