It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Maxime Gravel, who left us on January 18, 2026, at the age of 53.
He is mourned by his partner, Isabelle Tremblay, who will grieve him every day, so immense is his absence. A loving and deeply devoted father, he adored his two daughters, Pascale Gravel (Justin Melenbacher) and Magalie Gravel (Colin Plue), who would have loved to have him by their side for many more years.
A man of passion, Maxime had a strong love for heavy metal, running, cycling, and animals. A soldier at heart, he proudly embodied the values of brotherhood, loyalty, and courage, and considered his brothers-in-arms as a second family.
He also leaves a great void in the hearts of all who loved and cherished him.
He is reunited with his father, the late Guy-Étienne Gravel. He is survived by his mother, Claire Tremblay (Normand Wapistan), as well as his brother and sister, Annie Gravel (Richard Forgues) and Nicolas Gravel (Roxanne Tremblay).
He also leaves behind his nieces and nephews: Daniel, Jacinthe, Ann Shirley, Sylvain, and Rémi; his goddaughter, Manon Desbiens (William Girard), as well as their children.
His in-laws are also deeply affected by his passing: his parents-in-law Pierre-André Tremblay and Rolande Tremblay; his brothers and sisters-in-law Carl Tremblay (Dinah Bergeron), Audrée Tremblay (Éric Gilbert), and Jean Tremblay (Cathia Desrosiers); as well as their children Sara, Alexandre, Cassandra, Jean-Nicolas, Roxanne, and Mélodie.
Maxime also leaves in mourning his uncles, aunts, cousins, and many friends.
His memory will live on through the music he loved, the roads he travelled, and the unwavering love he had for his family.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at 1 p.m. in the Sacred Space of the Beechwood National Memorial Centre, located at 280 Beechwood Avenue in Ottawa. The burial will follow at the National Military Cemetery, in Beechwood Cemetery. The family will receive condolences from 10 a.m. in the Hall of Colours at the Beechwood National Memorial Centre. Please dress warmly for the burial service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada.
