It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ghislaine on February 6, 2026, following complications due to dementia.

She was the loving mother to daughter Katherine and her husband John, and her son Arthur, his wife C-C, and grandchildren Rosabel and Harrison. Ghislaine was predeceased by her much loved husband, Art. She is lovingly remembered and survived by her sister Lise Morin, and her brothers, Florian Pelletier and Francis Pelletier. Many nieces, nephews, and very close friends she supported through her life will miss her dearly.

Ghislaine was a woman of remarkable character and fierce resolve. She was an inspiring teacher and a dedicated advocate for the French language in Ontario, leaving a lasting impact on her students and her community. She fully embraced the joys of life during a lengthy retirement, enjoying the laughter and company of good friends in the Ottawa area and in Florida.

We feel profoundly grateful to have had her as our mother. While her final years were a long journey, her spirit remained her own until the very end. She departed this world as she lived within it, on her own schedule while surrounded by the love of her family.

We would like to thank the doctors and nurses at the Queensway Carlton Hospital who cared for Ghislaine with such compassion. We are also grateful for the wonderful staff from SBSU at the Perley Long Term Care facility who provided tremendous support to our mom for over 3 years.  Their care and compassion were a beacon for her and us as we navigated the devastation of this difficult disease.

In lieu of flowers, we would appreciate donations made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada (https://alzheimer.ca/en) in memory of Ghislaine.

Celebration of life to take place May 9,2026, Details to follow.

Kathy and Art Jr., I’m so sad to hear of your mom’s passing. She was an amazing lady and always laughing. Some of my fondest memories of my childhood was both our moms driving us to Ski Stoneham and listening to ABBA the whole way! Unfortunately our moms driving us Ginette is also going thru an Alzheimer’s journey. I know she would want you both to know how incredibly amazing your mom was. I will be playing some ABBA today for your mom, especially Art Jr favourite song “Chickadee Daa”
