Carol Stewart Raphael (nee Findlater) - 1958-2022
Passed away unexpectedly at her residence in Ottawa at the young age of 64. Daughter of the late William Findlater and Catherine Stewart. Beloved mother of Morgan and the late Colin. Cherished grandmother of Christian, Evelyn, Dominic, and Damian. Dear sister of Gail, Shannan, Allan, Stewart, and late Kurt. She will also be missed by other family members and friends.
Carol was born in Scotland on August 14, 1958, and she was very proud of her birthplace. She then came to Canada with her mother and sister. She eventually moved back to Scotland to be with her father and loved to go hiking with him all over Scotland including Goat Fell on the Isle of Arran, which was their favorite place to hike.
She was a loving mother to her two children from her marriage to Fouad Raphael and lived in Canada, Scotland, and Lebanon. She was full of life, loved to travel, meet people, and to help others in every way possible. She loved to be outdoors and was very active. She was a swimming instructor with several medallions and rescue certifications. She was a dive master with a great love for the ocean and exploring it. She later joined the Royal Canadian Navy of the Canadian Armed Forces. Sadly, four years ago she lost her beloved son Colin and her wish was to be reunited with him again. God bless you, Carol and Colin in Heaven, together again.
A graveside service will be held at Beechwood Cemetery, 280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa, on Friday, December 9 at 1:30 p.m. Attendees will meet at the Beechwood National Memorial Centre for 1:15 p.m. and we will proceed to graveside.
Hello Allen. I’m so sorry for your loss. I was thinking about Carol today and found this obituary. I didn’t know that your sister had died. You probably don’t remember me but I remember you as a very small and cheeky boy. Your sister Gail will remember me and my sister Lisa, I’m sure. Your mum lived with me for a few months when we both lived in Hamilton and she cleaned planes for a living. We were 18/19 years old then. I live in Scotland now
