Fredrick ´Rikk’ Alan Lewis born in Halifax, NS, died in Ottawa on June 8, 2019 at the age of 48.

Rikk is survived by his parents, Rick and Linda, spouse Grace, daughter Harley, sister Trina, and nièce Isabella.

He served in the military for 27 years which included 6 tours of duty including Somalia, Bosnia twice, and 3 times to Afghanistan. He was proud to be a member of 3RCR, the Canadian Airborne Regiment, and the Canadian Military Parachute Team the Skyhawks.

Rikk enjoyed making many friends throughout his life and military career. His favourite pastimes included putting pavement under the wheels of his Harley ´Black Betty’,  skydiving with more than a thousand jumps under his belt, and had a passion for weapons and firearms. Rikk possessed a joy for life that radiated  through his broad smile and gleaming eyes. He was well loved, and will surely be well missed and well remembered. He dearly loved his family, friends, and comrades in arms.

Friends and family are invited to visit at Beechwood Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services, 280 Beechwood Ave. on Friday June 21, 2019 from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the Memorial Service at 11:30 a.m.  Interment will take place in the National Military Cemetery followed by a reception.

I met Rick when we were in Battle school together 30 years ago, he was my roommate. He was always smiling and was an amazing guy. The world will be poorer without him in it, sometimes the brightest fires burn the shortest. I feel blessed to have known him. Pro Patria brother.

To the Lewis Family,
We are so heartbroken for your loss. Rikk just had a way of making you feel good with his smile. Whether we were at home or overseas, in good times or bad, he would bring up your spirit with his infectious smile and a good bear hug.
We know his spirit will always be with us.
Our deepest sympathy and love to you all.
