A very fine gentleman passed away during the early hours of September 2nd, 2025
10 March 1930 Timmins, Ontario - 02 September 2025 Ottawa, Ontario
Taylor Hardware, Noranda, Québec
Caverhill, Learmont Inc., Ottawa, Ontario
After a brief illness, Jack died peacefully at the age of 95.5 yrs. old. He was the devoted husband of Teresa Dimock (2018), for 67 wonderful years. Mourning his loss are his loving daughter, Jo-Anne, and his adoring granddaughter, Julie Nantais (partner Jarlath McCotter) of Sydney, Australia. He was quite simply the greatest Dad and Gunga (grandfather). Jack was pre-deceased by his parents, Francis (Frank), Nolan and Blanche Stamet of Maniwaki and Timmins, and by his brothers James Garfield (Shirley Parker), and Brian Bruce (Lucille Chayer). Jack is survived by many nieces and nephews, and their families, all of whom were dear to his heart.
Jack was a Past Grand Knight with the Knights of Columbus, of which he was a very proud and involved member for 72 yrs. He served with Councils 3163, 485, and 13701 at Blessed Sacrament Church in Noranda, Québec, with Resurrection of Our Lord, and Immaculate Heart of Mary in Ottawa. His Brother Knights became his closest friends and were instrumental in adding to his quality of life. The family is deeply indebted to them all.
Jack was a man of many admirable qualities, lived his life by the Golden Rule, and always reaching out with a helping hand. He was a man of great conviction, devoted to his family and his faith. He was a pillar of the community and became a mentor to many. Jack did the NY Times Crossword Puzzle in ink, was a voracious reader, and as the family historian, he was happiest when regaling everyone with his many captivating stories.
He never owned a calculator; his mind was razor-sharp. He was a lifelong learner, and derived great pleasure from his postcard collection, which allowed him to “travel the world”!
Jack will be deeply missed for his compassionate heart and caring nature.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to all the caring souls at the Ottawa General Hospital who took exceptional care of Jack.
Family and friends will be welcomed at Beechwood Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services at 280 Beechwood Ave, Ottawa for a time of Visitation on Friday November 28, 2025 from 11:00am-1:00pm, Funeral Service to take place at 1:00pm with private family interment to follow at Beechwood Cemetery, during this time friends and guest will be welcome to a time of fellowship and refreshments in Beechwood Reception Suites.
In lieu of flowers, family would welcome donations to the Ottawa Mission, or ALS Canada.

Jack was an easy person to talk to - always open-minded . He had time to discuss any matter that I had. His stories were the most interesting and were always helpful when I felt down and troubled. This FACT is what I will miss as I continue my Journey towards the LORD.

I will miss the occasions we enjoyed at WENDY'S every Wednesday. It was the High-light where ALL problems were solved and of course were done so with Praise to the Lord.
So sad to say good-bye but happy that he can once again be with Aunt Theresa! John and I were so happy to spend a bit of time with Uncle Jack on our travels east these last few years. Hugs to Jo-Anne and Julie💕❤️
