It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Julie on Friday, April 4, 2025 following a short and fierce battle with brain cancer.

Julie is predeceased by her beloved son, Vincent, and father, Don. Julie will be deeply and forever missed by her loving daughter, Eve; mother, Betty; brother Stephen (Susanne); sister Heather (Jeff); nieces and nephews: Devon, Grace, Dylan, Molly, Ella, and Owen; her dog Sammy and many cherished friends, extended family and colleagues.

Julie was a bright shining light who touched the lives of so many with her humour, kindness and beaming smile. Even in the depths of grief and illness, her ability to make those around her laugh and her deep care and compassion for those she loved shone through.

Her children were her largest source of inspiration and pride. She spoke often about how much she loved watching them grow into their unique and authentic selves. The tragic loss of Vincent broke her soul. We hope that she passed from the loving arms of friends and family straight into Vince’s comforting embrace. Julie rests knowing that Eve is surrounded with love from her father, Dominic, and everyone in the Roy and Crooks families.

As one of her dear friends wrote, our hearts are aching at the thought of a world without Jules.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Julie's memory to a charity of your choosing that supports cancer research or youth mental health.

Special thanks to the kind support of her care team including Tracy Mantle, Drs. Jennings, Nicolas & Nair and the caring staff of the Ottawa Hospital Oncology unit.

A celebration of Julie's life will be held on Thursday, May 29 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Beechwood National Memorial Centre, 280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa.

It’s been hard to put into words about what you meant to me. Most of my favourite memories were when we were a team against the World from 95-01. From meeting you here in Ottawa, moving to Calgary together and back, you were unmatched and made me a better person. You’re in good company now with Vincent, your amazing dad, Chewy and Rudy, and a doggo that blew your hair back when he tail-wagged. You meant so much to me, many families and yours. Ty Julie. xx oo xo
