It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Maria Mendes, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, who left us on November 28, 2025. Maria was a beacon of love and strength in her family, cherished for her kindness, warmth, and unwavering support.

Born in 1946 in Portugal, Maria dedicated her life to her family. She is survived by her loving husband, Carlos, and her three devoted daughters, Sarah, Barbara, and Tania. Maria’s legacy continues through her son-in-laws and her cherished grandchildren, who brought immense joy to her life.

Maria also shared a special bond with her five brothers and sisters, as well as her nieces, nephews and cousins who remember her as a guiding light and a source of unwavering love.

As a family, we celebrate Maria’s life, her incredible spirit, and the love she shared with all of us. In honoring her memory, we recognize the countless lives she touched, her resilience, and her capacity for love.

Family and friends are invited to Beechwood Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services (280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa) for a Visitation on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at Paroquia Senhor Santo Cristo Parish (110 Kenaston Avenue, Ottawa) at 11:00 a.m. followed by an Interment at Beechwood Cemetery.

For those who wish to make a donation in memory of Maria, please do so towards May Court Hospice.

Maria Mendes will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege to know her. Rest in peace, dear Maria.
