Peter Semeniuk, 86, of Ottawa, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2026.
Born in the Clearbrook district of Alberta, Peter was the youngest son of Danylo and Maria Semeniuk. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Joan Semeniuk (nee Seaby), his parents, and his parents-in-law, George and Gladys Seaby.
Peter was the loving father of Peter John, Karen (Kevin), and Kevin (Stephanie), and a proud grandfather to Alexander, Katya, Katrina, Anna, and Ella. He is survived by his sister, Sophie Kuly, and was predeceased by his brothers William (Ann), John (Joanne), Nick (Ann), and his sisters Annie and Kae. He will be fondly remembered by his nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
Peter, after graduating from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology, moved to Ottawa in 1961 to work as a Lab Technician at the National Research Council. He enjoyed curling, taking family road trips back to Alberta, was a member of the parish Knights of Columbus, and often volunteered his time at Saint John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Shrine. He was well known for his warm smile and his willingness to lend a helping hand.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2026, from 6:30 to 8:30 PM at the Beechwood National Memorial Centre. A Funeral Mass, followed by a reception, will take place on Friday, March 27, 2026, at 10:00 AM at St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Shrine.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Peter’s memory may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada.
