On September 28, 2025, at the age of 84, Thérèse Gertrude D’Aoust (née Paquette) passed away peacefully (at the Ottawa Civic Hospital, following a stroke), surrounded by her entire family.
She was the daughter of the late Léo-Paul Paquette and Marguerite Louiseize, and the wife of the late Richard D’Aoust.
She was the beloved mother of her children: Chantal D'Aoust-Bernard (Mario Bernard), Stéphane (Valérie Bertrand), and André (Deborah McCauley). She was the cherished grandmother of Simon and Maxim Bernard, Marie-France and Lina D'Aoust, and Kevin and Jacob D'Aoust. She is also survived by her siblings: the late Lorraine, Richard, the late Bernadette, and the late Patrick, as well as many uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins, and friends.
She was a teacher with the Ottawa Catholic School Board and, since her retirement, a passionate curling and bridge player. Her curling teammates will miss her dearly.
She was always ready to help or offer advice to her family and friends- a true MAMA THÉRÈSA.
The family will receive condolences on Saturday, November 8, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Beechwood Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services (at the Beechwood National Memorial Centre), located at 280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa. The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. in Beechwood’s Sacred Space. A reception will follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Montfort Hospital Foundation or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.

I remember sharing a lovely summer meal with Thérèse and Richard outside on the deck at Val and Steph's place back in 2006(?). Such a lovely and gracious woman your Mom was! She will be missed. My heartfelt sympathies to all.

Je garde de si beaux souvenirs de tous nos moments passés ensemble; : nos parties de Scrabble, le curling, et nos fins de semaine remplies de rires et de bonne humeur. Ton sourire et ta gentillesse resteront gravés dans ma mémoire.

I am very saddened to read about the passing of Thérèse. What a wonderful person and lady she was. From my very first meeting to the last, over a span for 50 years, each one felt special. Her mannerism, they way she carried herself, her conversations, and her attentiveness to others were unique and unmatched. Never judgemental, and always ready to help. A very sweet and caring human, one of a kind for certain.
My sincere condolences to Chantel, Stéphane, André, and all of her family. I know how much she will be missed by you all.
