Glenn Andrew McGuire, beloved husband, father, son, brother and friend, passed away suddenly surrounded by the love that defined his life. Born July 4, 1961, in Westmount Quebec to Donald and Jean McGuire, Glenn grew up with a generous heart and a ready laugh that stayed with him his whole life.

A proud and dedicated soldier, Glenn served multiple overseas tours including Cyprus and Afghanistan with the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry (PPCLI) and the Intelligence Branch. Those who served with him remember his steady courage, his quick wit, and the energetic strength he brought to every challenge.

Glenn’s greatest joy was his family. His wife Kathleen (Kathy) and daughter Hayley were his world; he treasured every moment with them and filled their lives with laughter, warmth, and unwavering devotion. He is also survived by his siblings, Michael (Jane) and Erin (Mike), nieces Marissa (Anthony), Sarah and Gwen, and nephews David, Christopher (Laura), and Matthew, and by extended family and many dear friends whose lives he touched.

Glenn will be remembered for his wicked humor, his love of (and frustration with) the Leafs and his enduring passion for golf and the friends who came with it. He learned to love figure skating in support of his precious Hayley, despite never truly learning the proper names for most elements. He leaves behind countless memories—stories, smiles, and the example of a life lived fully for those he loved.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Glenn’s memory to The Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Royal Canadian Legion Dominion Command Poppy Trust Fund.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at 1 p.m. in the Sacred Space of Beechwood Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services, located at 280 Beechwood Avenue in Ottawa. A reception will follow. Those unable to attend the service in person, may attend virtually via live stream by accessing this link.

Interment in the National Military Cemetery at Beechwood will take place at a later date, when the grass has greened for the season.

Our deepest condelences to Kathleen and Hayley. Take special care, I will always remeber Glenn for the twinkle in his eye both at the skating rink and on the golf course.
So young and so sudden, god bless.

I’ve known Glenn from golfing at Greyhawk for a number of years. We liked playing early and
Would usually talk about the weather, course conditions and anything else that would come up. We spoke of anything happening with our families. Will miss him but will have good memories. My condolences to his family.

I was fortunate to serve alongside him and to know him as a mentor, fellow soldier, and trusted friend. Through his guidance, patience, and example, he shaped how I lead and how I live. His wisdom and generosity left a lasting mark on all those he inspired and continues to live on through us. He will be profoundly missed.
