Glenn Andrew McGuire, beloved husband, father, son, brother and friend, passed away suddenly surrounded by the love that defined his life. Born July 4, 1961, in Westmount Quebec to Donald and Jean McGuire, Glenn grew up with a generous heart and a ready laugh that stayed with him his whole life.
A proud and dedicated soldier, Glenn served multiple overseas tours including Cyprus and Afghanistan with the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry (PPCLI) and the Intelligence Branch. Those who served with him remember his steady courage, his quick wit, and the energetic strength he brought to every challenge.
Glenn’s greatest joy was his family. His wife Kathleen (Kathy) and daughter Hayley were his world; he treasured every moment with them and filled their lives with laughter, warmth, and unwavering devotion. He is also survived by his siblings, Michael (Jane) and Erin (Mike), nieces Marissa (Anthony), Sarah and Gwen, and nephews David, Christopher (Laura), and Matthew, and by extended family and many dear friends whose lives he touched.
Glenn will be remembered for his wicked humor, his love of (and frustration with) the Leafs and his enduring passion for golf and the friends who came with it. He learned to love figure skating in support of his precious Hayley, despite never truly learning the proper names for most elements. He leaves behind countless memories—stories, smiles, and the example of a life lived fully for those he loved.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Glenn’s memory to The Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Royal Canadian Legion Dominion Command Poppy Trust Fund.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at 1 p.m. in the Sacred Space of Beechwood Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services, located at 280 Beechwood Avenue in Ottawa. A reception will follow. Those unable to attend the service in person, may attend virtually via live stream by accessing this link.
Interment in the National Military Cemetery at Beechwood will take place at a later date, when the grass has greened for the season.

This is a terrible loss. Glen was a mentor, comrade in arms, and trusted friend. I already miss his funny stories and infectious laugh that always lightened the mood of everyone around him. I'm not sure why he tolerated me given my utter disinterest in hockey and golf. We both did, however, have a strong shared interest in our profession and the people serving in it.
I would like to extend my heartfelt condolences to Glen's family. He spoke of you so often and with such happiness and love that it was clear you were the focus of his life and that, because of you, he felt truly fortunate.

Rest in peace Glenn and my deepest condolences to the family.

Shocked and saddened to hear of Glenn’s passing. Glenn was always professional, honest, trustworthy and straightforward when required; a very solid Senior NCO for all ranks to emulate.
However, Glenn was much more, he was a very compassionately generous person who sincerely cared for others, he will be missed.
Our condolences to his family and loved ones.

Gone too soon. He was loved by many and I always thought of him as a brother. A soldier's soldier and a man of intergrity. Gone but never forgotten. Condolences to his family.

I am so sorry to hear of Glenn's passing; my condolences to Kathy, Hayley and all of Glenn's family and friends. Glenn was one of my instructors when I first joined the branch, and I had the privilege of working with him many times over the years, including on deployment overseas. His professionalism and pride in service was obvious, and his ready laugh made him great company; may he rest in peace.
I am deeply saddened to learn of Glenn's passing, he has been a great mentor and friend since we met at 1 Div back in the early 90s. His sense of humor will be long remembered and missed. Kathy and Hayley please accept our heartfelt condolences on the loss of a great person, father and husband.
