Glenn Andrew McGuire, beloved husband, father, son, brother and friend, passed away suddenly surrounded by the love that defined his life. Born July 4, 1961, in Westmount Quebec to Donald and Jean McGuire, Glenn grew up with a generous heart and a ready laugh that stayed with him his whole life.
A proud and dedicated soldier, Glenn served multiple overseas tours including Cyprus and Afghanistan with the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry (PPCLI) and the Intelligence Branch. Those who served with him remember his steady courage, his quick wit, and the energetic strength he brought to every challenge.
Glenn’s greatest joy was his family. His wife Kathleen (Kathy) and daughter Hayley were his world; he treasured every moment with them and filled their lives with laughter, warmth, and unwavering devotion. He is also survived by his siblings, Michael (Jane) and Erin (Mike), nieces Marissa (Anthony), Sarah and Gwen, and nephews David, Christopher (Laura), and Matthew, and by extended family and many dear friends whose lives he touched.
Glenn will be remembered for his wicked humor, his love of (and frustration with) the Leafs and his enduring passion for golf and the friends who came with it. He learned to love figure skating in support of his precious Hayley, despite never truly learning the proper names for most elements. He leaves behind countless memories—stories, smiles, and the example of a life lived fully for those he loved.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Glenn’s memory to The Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Royal Canadian Legion Dominion Command Poppy Trust Fund.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at 1 p.m. in the Sacred Space of Beechwood Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services, located at 280 Beechwood Avenue in Ottawa. A reception will follow. Those unable to attend the service in person, may attend virtually via live stream by accessing this link.
Interment in the National Military Cemetery at Beechwood will take place at a later date, when the grass has greened for the season.

I am crushed.
Glenn you were a fantastic mentor and the best boss i ever had. Your sense of humour was legendary. You didn't take yourself too seriously yet were a consummate professional. A legend.
Deepest deepest condolences to Cathy, Hayley and family. Halyley, we only met once but I could share a funny story about your dad trying to get home for your birthday. I'll save it for another time. He loved you deeply and dearly.
Many will lament.
In Valhalla buddy.

I deployed to Afghanistan with Glenn and that tour ranks as one of the highlights of my career because of him. We had so much fun and I learned so much from him, he was a great mentor. RIP brother.

My deepest condolences on the loss of Glen. He had the knack of changing the mood in a room with his surgical wit and sardonic smile, he made the hard stuff easier and fun. A true loss. May he rest in peace.

Very saddened to hear of Glenn's passing. My deepest and heartfelt condolences to Kathy, Haley, family, friends and colleagues. I met Glenn back in the spring of 1988 when we commenced our training in the Intelligence Branch. We would cross paths many times as we plied our craft. Glenn will be forever in my heart and never forgotten. Rest in Peace Brother.
Glenn you will be missed by so many. You were a mentor to the younger soldiers under your command. To all family and friends, I want to send my sincere condolences.
