Glenn Andrew McGuire, beloved husband, father, son, brother and friend, passed away suddenly surrounded by the love that defined his life. Born July 4, 1961, in Westmount Quebec to Donald and Jean McGuire, Glenn grew up with a generous heart and a ready laugh that stayed with him his whole life.
A proud and dedicated soldier, Glenn served multiple overseas tours including Cyprus and Afghanistan with the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry (PPCLI) and the Intelligence Branch. Those who served with him remember his steady courage, his quick wit, and the energetic strength he brought to every challenge.
Glenn’s greatest joy was his family. His wife Kathleen (Kathy) and daughter Hayley were his world; he treasured every moment with them and filled their lives with laughter, warmth, and unwavering devotion. He is also survived by his siblings, Michael (Jane) and Erin (Mike), nieces Marissa (Anthony), Sarah and Gwen, and nephews David, Christopher (Laura), and Matthew, and by extended family and many dear friends whose lives he touched.
Glenn will be remembered for his wicked humor, his love of (and frustration with) the Leafs and his enduring passion for golf and the friends who came with it. He learned to love figure skating in support of his precious Hayley, despite never truly learning the proper names for most elements. He leaves behind countless memories—stories, smiles, and the example of a life lived fully for those he loved.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Glenn’s memory to The Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Royal Canadian Legion Dominion Command Poppy Trust Fund.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at 1 p.m. in the Sacred Space of Beechwood Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services, located at 280 Beechwood Avenue in Ottawa. A reception will follow. Those unable to attend the service in person, may attend virtually via live stream by accessing this link.
Interment in the National Military Cemetery at Beechwood will take place at a later date, when the grass has greened for the season.

I had the privilege of working with Glenn when I was a UK Army Exchange Officer in Ottawa during 2010-2013. He showed me the ropes and kept me out of trouble! Above all he was a kind, loyal and generous man. He loved his family above all. Our deepest condolences to Kathy and Hayley. Dave & Lynn Braithwaite

Glenn was a mentor and friend to many soldiers, sailors and flyers. His impact gave many of us a great example of leadership that serving members still try and emulate. He left a lasting impression and was without question, one of the good guys.

Although we haven't seen each other in many years, I will never forget our times together at the cottage and on Wiseman. Thank you for everything Glen. You will be missed. Your the first to leave the old gang. God bless you and your family.

My sincerest condolences to Kathy, Hayley and family. We have lost great guy who consistently and with devout passion "guarded the line" for his family, friends, with the military, and as a stalwart Torwart with the Kickers.
