Glenn Andrew McGuire, beloved husband, father, son, brother and friend, passed away suddenly surrounded by the love that defined his life. Born July 4, 1961, in Westmount Quebec to Donald and Jean McGuire, Glenn grew up with a generous heart and a ready laugh that stayed with him his whole life.

A proud and dedicated soldier, Glenn served multiple overseas tours including Cyprus and Afghanistan with the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry (PPCLI) and the Intelligence Branch. Those who served with him remember his steady courage, his quick wit, and the energetic strength he brought to every challenge.

Glenn’s greatest joy was his family. His wife Kathleen (Kathy) and daughter Hayley were his world; he treasured every moment with them and filled their lives with laughter, warmth, and unwavering devotion. He is also survived by his siblings, Michael (Jane) and Erin (Mike), nieces Marissa (Anthony), Sarah and Gwen, and nephews David, Christopher (Laura), and Matthew, and by extended family and many dear friends whose lives he touched.

Glenn will be remembered for his wicked humor, his love of (and frustration with) the Leafs and his enduring passion for golf and the friends who came with it. He learned to love figure skating in support of his precious Hayley, despite never truly learning the proper names for most elements. He leaves behind countless memories—stories, smiles, and the example of a life lived fully for those he loved.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Glenn’s memory to The Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Royal Canadian Legion Dominion Command Poppy Trust Fund.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at 1 p.m. in the Sacred Space of Beechwood Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services, located at 280 Beechwood Avenue in Ottawa. A reception will follow. Those unable to attend the service in person, may attend virtually via live stream by accessing this link.

Interment in the National Military Cemetery at Beechwood will take place at a later date, when the grass has greened for the season.

Glenn We will miss you on the first tee. So many good times chasing that little white ball around the course. Enjoy the new course you are playing. My deepest sympathies to the family.

My condolences to Kathy and family. I haven't seen Glenn since the late 80's in Germany, but the fond memories are what counts.

To Kathy and Hayley my deepest condolences.

Glenn was a knowledgeable instructor, very proud soldier and consummate intelligence professional. His war time service and sacrifice for our country were exemplary. I had the pleasure of working closely with Glenn for years. Despite the challenges endured he always did his best to meet the needs of the CAF and supported his family, which was an example for other to emulate. His passion for his family, golf and doing the best he could at work were always topics of discussion during long road trips. I was proud to have served with and known such a good man.

I am so sad to hear this news. Glen was a mentor to me when I first worked with the Int branch. I will fondly remember his love for golf, his love for country, his love of his family , his wicked sense of humour and his kindness.
