Glenn Andrew McGuire, beloved husband, father, son, brother and friend, passed away suddenly surrounded by the love that defined his life. Born July 4, 1961, in Westmount Quebec to Donald and Jean McGuire, Glenn grew up with a generous heart and a ready laugh that stayed with him his whole life.
A proud and dedicated soldier, Glenn served multiple overseas tours including Cyprus and Afghanistan with the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry (PPCLI) and the Intelligence Branch. Those who served with him remember his steady courage, his quick wit, and the energetic strength he brought to every challenge.
Glenn’s greatest joy was his family. His wife Kathleen (Kathy) and daughter Hayley were his world; he treasured every moment with them and filled their lives with laughter, warmth, and unwavering devotion. He is also survived by his siblings, Michael (Jane) and Erin (Mike), nieces Marissa (Anthony), Sarah and Gwen, and nephews David, Christopher (Laura), and Matthew, and by extended family and many dear friends whose lives he touched.
Glenn will be remembered for his wicked humor, his love of (and frustration with) the Leafs and his enduring passion for golf and the friends who came with it. He learned to love figure skating in support of his precious Hayley, despite never truly learning the proper names for most elements. He leaves behind countless memories—stories, smiles, and the example of a life lived fully for those he loved.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Glenn’s memory to The Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Royal Canadian Legion Dominion Command Poppy Trust Fund.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at 1 p.m. in the Sacred Space of Beechwood Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services, located at 280 Beechwood Avenue in Ottawa. A reception will follow. Those unable to attend the service in person, may attend virtually via live stream by accessing this link.
Interment in the National Military Cemetery at Beechwood will take place at a later date, when the grass has greened for the season.

RIP Glenn, you were definitely taken too soon. Kathy and Hayley I am so sorry for your loss, having gone through this myself. You were the best man and my wedding to Randy, and my daughter Michelle’s godfather. I should’ve kept in touch my friend. I think of you often, and know you will be missed. Love you my friend. Have a beer and a round of golf with Len for me! Xxoo

Kathy, Hayley, my deepest sympathy to you and all family members. Devastation does not cover how I felt when I got the news of Glenn’s sudden passing. The loss of a great friend is heartbreaking to say the least.
I’ll miss our summer golf, golf trips, indoor golf during the winter (and we complained extensively about this winter) and our get togethers for a cold beverage or two.
RIP brother as you will be greatly missed…

I haven't seen cousin Glenn since we were kids, but his unbridled enthusiasm on FB for his daughter's figure skating exploits made me smile more than once - RIP🙏

My heartfelt condolences to Kathy, Hayley and all the McGuire family. I could always rely upon Glenn to be straight forward with me, tactfully using his unique sense of humour when the situation called for it. I am not alone in saying that I will miss Glenn, but certainly will never forget him.

Totally shocked to hear of Glenn's passing... I hadn't seen Glenn since his retirement but am glad to have had the opportunity to know him. As many have said, he was smart, professional and had a wicked sense of humour. Condolences to Kathy and Hayley and the rest of his family.

RIP and gone way too soon. You made a lasting impression on a very raw OCdt, who took those lessons forward throughout his career - thank you so much Glen. Will always remember those great times we had on the ball diamond.
Had a chance to catch up with Glenn in December and I’m so glad I took it. The Leclerc family sends our deepest condolences and prayers for Kathleen Hayley, and to his family and friends.
He was a larger than life kind of person and that gap he leaves will not be filled, but I will always look upon it with gratitude for having known him, and for the help he often gave me, never with any strings attached, never with an expectation of something in return. Love ya Glenn. Rest in peace my friend.
